Generations
The gap between who medical research was designed to reach and who it missed is not new — it is structural, global, and now being encoded into AI at scale.
Our Community Commitment
AI compliance without community voice is just paperwork. The populations most affected by representation gaps in clinical research are the same communities whose voices must shape what equitable looks like in practice.
Purposa's community programs ensure that standard is real — not aspirational.
Why This Matters
Generations
The gap between who medical research was designed to reach and who it missed is not new — it is structural, global, and now being encoded into AI at scale.
Accelerating
AI is making drug development decisions faster than most patient communities have been informed about — let alone invited to influence.
Closeable
The gap between how AI is deployed in medicine and what the communities it affects know about it is real — and with the right investment, it is closeable. That is the work.
Purposa Health's community pillar exists to begin closing that gap — through honest education, accessible programming, and a commitment to bringing the voices of patients and communities from every corner of the world into the rooms where AI governance decisions are made. Not because any single community represents the whole — but because no governance standard is complete without all of them.
Our Programs
Structured educational sessions designed for community organizations, faith communities, HBCU campuses, patient advocacy groups, and neighborhood health associations.
We translate the complexity of AI in drug development into language that is honest, accessible, and actionable — so communities can ask better questions, make more informed decisions about clinical trial participation, and advocate for themselves with the knowledge to do it effectively.
What a Purposa Learns session covers
What AI is doing in drug development
How AI tools are shaping which medicines get developed, how trials are designed, and which patients get found — explained without jargon.
What the data gap means for your community
Why underrepresentation in AI training data is not just a technical problem — and what it means for how well medicines work for different populations.
What you can do about it
How to evaluate clinical trial participation decisions, what questions to ask, and how community voices are beginning to shape AI governance standards.
What Purposa Health is doing — and why
An honest conversation about our work, who we hold accountable, and where the community fits in what we build.
Format Options
Larger-format community events that bring Purposa Health into community spaces — health fairs, community centers, HBCU campuses, faith institution gatherings, and neighborhood health events.
Purposa Activates events are designed to meet people where they are — not to pull communities into formal settings where they have historically not felt welcome. We come to you, on your terms, with programming built around your community's specific questions and concerns.
What a Purposa Activates event includes
AI & Your Health interactive station
Hands-on demonstrations and plain-language explainers showing how AI is being used in healthcare and drug development right now.
Ask a Pharma Insider
Open Q&A with Staci Hargraves — a 30-year pharmaceutical executive who will answer the questions communities have never had someone with inside knowledge willing to answer honestly.
Clinical Trial Participation Guide
Practical, accessible resource on understanding clinical trial opportunities, how to evaluate them, and what rights participants hold.
Community Feedback Collection
Every activation includes structured community feedback that directly informs Purposa Health's advisory work with pharmaceutical companies. Your voice shapes our standards.
Who we partner with
Purposa Voices is Purposa Health's structured program for bringing community members, patient advocates, and underrepresented patient voices directly into our advisory process.
The communities Purposa Health advocates for in our work with pharmaceutical companies must be informing the standards we set. Purposa Voices ensures they are.
How it works
Community Advisors
Purposa Health maintains a panel of community advisors — patient advocates, community health leaders, and individuals with lived experience of clinical research from underrepresented communities. Advisors are compensated for their time and expertise.
Audit Feedback Loop
Community advisor input directly shapes the patient population benchmarks and representation standards used in Purposa Health audits. When we assess whether an AI tool reflects a patient community, community advisors help define what that means.
Pharma Accountability
With client permission, community advisor perspectives are shared with pharmaceutical companies as part of the audit process — bringing the patient voice into boardrooms and R&D leadership conversations where it has rarely been heard.
Published Insights
Purposa Health publishes an annual Community Perspective Report — aggregating community advisor insights on AI in drug development for public distribution to pharma companies, regulators, and patient communities.

Community Partnerships
Purposa Health actively seeks partnerships with organizations already trusted in the communities we serve — whether those communities are defined by geography, culture, language, health condition, or simply by their historical distance from the centers of medical research. If your organization works with populations underrepresented in clinical AI and drug development, and you see an opportunity to bring education and accountability into that work — we want to hear from you.

A Note From Our Founder
I have spent 25+ years inside pharmaceutical organizations — in the rooms where AI budgets are approved, where clinical trial designs are set, where decisions are made that affect which patients get found and which communities get missed.
I have also sat in community rooms — with patient advocates, with Black health leaders, with people who have watched the medical system make decisions about their health without asking for their input, without explaining the science, and without earning their trust.
Those two rooms have been too far apart for too long. Purposa Health's community pillar is my commitment to changing that — not by asking communities to trust a system that has not always deserved it, but by bringing the knowledge, the access, and the accountability that makes trust possible.
